Research on job misclassification and payroll fraud
Lisa Xo
Lisa Xu received a PhD in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School in November 2018. Her dissertation research focused on the transition away from agriculture and the rise of wage employment and industrialization in developing countries. Before starting her PhD, she was a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Board and the World Bank. As a Research Fellow at the Labor and Worklife Program, she is co-authoring a study on employer payroll fraud and worker misclassification in the United States. Outside of research, she is also a proud organizer with the Harvard Graduate Students Union (HGSU-UAW) and an active member of the Time's Up Committee at HGSU-UAW, working at the intersection of labor rights and gender-based harassment and sexual violence on campus.
