Global Health In Action WinterSession Program

The Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) and the HGHI Student Advisory Committee are pleased to be offering programming during this year’s wintersession from January 19th-21st! Events include an in-person global health simulation, virtual site visits, and opportunities for engagement with global health orgs. Priority will be given to first and second year students, and space will be limited. You can register for the Global Health In Action Wintersession Program here by January 5th.

Global Health Student Ambassador Leadership Opportunity

Apply for HGHI’s Global Health Ambassadors Program and become a member of HGHI’s Student Advisory Committee (SAC) in 2022! This is a year-long volunteer position open to students of all concentrations and global health backgrounds. If you would like more information on the roles and responsibilities of ambassadors, they are outlined in the application form here. Please email hghi.studentadvisory@gmail.com with any questions. Applications due by Friday, January 7th at midnight.

As we reflect on the year and prepare for winter recess, we are pleased to share our 2020-21 annual report, which showcases our year of remote teaching and learning. The report highlights key moments from the year as we transitioned our programming and support online, and endeavored to keep up with the needs of teachers and learners across the FAS.  We are proud of our work supporting faculty and PhD students and building community around teaching throughout these challenging times.

New Report Addresses Underrepresentation of Women of Color in Tech

Evelynn Hammonds, Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor, and History of Science department chair, served as co-chair on a committee for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that has released a report titled "Transforming Trajectories for Women of Color in Tech." The report urges a range of organizations across the tech ecosystem to take steps to improve the representation of women of color in tech fields and careers.
