The weakening and sometimes collapse of liberal democracies around the world has long been a focus of research for Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, but the Harvard professors of government only recently felt compelled to turn their analysis to this country.

In their new book “How Democracies Die” (Crown), Levitsky and Ziblatt argue that democracy in the United States faces threats that parallel those that led to its diminishment and demise in other nations. Naomi Oreskes Moderates Environmental Panels at 2018 Davos Summit.

Roilos honored by Panteion University

Harvard University medievalist Panagiotis Roilos, George Seferis Professor of Modern Greek Studies and Professor of Comparative Literature, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens. Professor Roilos, a scholar of Byzantine Greek literature and literary theory, is one of the youngest honorees in the century-old history of Panteion University, a leading center for the study of social and political sciences in Europe.
