HTUP 75th Anniversary Event

October 6-8, 2017
Harvard Law School
Cambridge MA

During the October holiday weekend, the 75th anniversary celebration of the Harvard Trade Union Program took place.  Over 70 alumni returned  to Harvard from around the world to participate in the weekend activities.  The goal of the weekend was not only to have time to enjoy each other’s company, nurture the HTUP alumni network, and engage in interesting and meaningful discussion of issues important to the labor movement but also to honor former Executive Director Elaine Bernard’s remarkable record of 28 years of service to the HTUP.  Over125 people attended the dinner to honor Elaine, which was held on Friday night at Loeb House, former home of the Harvard University president.

The topics of the panels and roundtable discussions included:

  • State of Labor Law Today
  • Automation and Robots
  • The Use of Choice Theory in Taking our Leadership to New Productive Levels
  • Fulfilling the Promise of the HTUP
  • John T. Dunlop and HTUP: Reflections on His Legacy and Implications for the Future
  • Labor in Popular Culture
  • How to Address the Big Issues with Your Members: Role of the Union; Impact Investing and Retirement Security; Talking Across Boundaries and Bridges
